Vitoss™ synthetic cansellous bone void filler remodeling (resorption) Vitoss™ synthetic cansellous bone void filler remodeling (resorption)
Vitoss™ synthetic cancellous bone void filler is a highly porous scaffold fabricated from nano-sized particles of synthetic ß-tricalcium phosphate. The biomaterial, which is engineered to resemble the structure of human cancellous bone, was studied in dogs to establish its potential as a cancellous bone substitute.

Complications associated with the iliac crest Complications associated with the iliac crest
The iliac crest is the most commonly used source of living bone for autogenous bone grafting. Iliac crest harvest yields cancellous bone that can serve as an osteoinductive and osteoconductive scaffold for healing bone defects.

The packing of Vitoss synthetic cansellous bone void filler into bone defects The packing of Vitoss synthetic cansellous bone void filler into bone defects
This study showed that Vitoss blocks and morsels retain their porosity after packing, and that absorption of fluids and bone cell attachment capacity remain the same as they were prior to packing.

This picture book is a "snapshot" taken in the first week of July, 2001, and provides an overview of the x-rays and other pictures that Orthovita has received depicting a variety of patients treated with VITOSS™. These images have been provided by surgeons both in the United States and Europe, who have graciously allowed us to show their work in this informal manner.
